Industry Standard

Industry Standard was written in 2004 for the show SONIC ART. It was held in the UCA Black Box Gallery and curated by Monica Steinberg. Monica was an art history major, but was also a member of the UCA Percussion Studio. She asked me if the percussion ensemble could do something for the show, so I wrote a quartet for a set of invented instruments. UCA art and percussion students built the instruments together. The premiere was given at the opening of the show and then the instruments were left in place so that everyone who visited the show could create their own sonic art.
